Ngangkk Yira- Murdoch Uni

AWB was awarded the contract to deliver refurbishment works for the Ngangk Yira building at Murdoch University. The project aimed to enhance both the internal and external environments of the facility, supporting cultural engagement and operational functionality. AWB successfully delivered a modernised and culturally sensitive space tailored to the university’s vision, with all works completed to specification and in coordination with site requirements.

Scope Summary

Commencing in January 2024, AWB undertook full demolition and removal works, followed by extensive internal and external upgrades.

External Works:

• Earthworks and site preparation for shade sail structure, flag poles, mulch beds, ‘Bush Tucker’ garden, paving, and fire pit area

Internal Works:

• Installation of new Rondo exposed grid ceilings with R4.0 glass wool insulation and mineral fibre ceiling tiles
• Construction of new PW01 and GW02 partition walls using steel stud framing, plasterboard lining, and glass wool insulation, inclusive of MDF stop ends and skirtings
• Supply and installation of new carpet, glazed partitioning, aluminium door frames, timber doors, door hardware, signage, tree plaque, blinds, and relocation of existing whiteboard
• Decorative film and decal artworks
• Painting throughout

Services:

• Mechanical: ducted FCU units, plant rooms, MSSBs, BMS systems and controls
• Electrical and hydraulic services

The project was delivered over a 12-week period, on time and on budget, with zero lost time injuries (LTIs) and full alignment with Murdoch University’s expectations for cultural and functional infrastructure
