Accessbility Ramp Upgrade & External Works
Project Description
AWB was awarded the contract to deliver ramp access upgrades to the Gym and Music Room at Fremantle College. The project aimed to improve accessibility and safety for students and staff by upgrading external access infrastructure in compliance with modern standards. AWB successfully delivered a durable and functional ramp system tailored to the site’s needs, with all works completed to specification and in coordination with Programmed Facility Management.
Scope Summary
- AWB commenced works in March 2023, beginning with ground scanning and preliminary site preparation. The scope included demolition and waste removal, earthworks, and concrete laying. Additional works involved metal fabrication, electrical and hydraulic services, and rock removal to accommodate new structures. Retaining walls were constructed, and handrails were installed to ensure safe access.
- The project also included landscaping and reinstatement of grassed areas impacted by the works. All activities were completed within the 8-week program, on time and on budget, with zero lost time injuries (LTIs) and full compliance with accessibility and safety requirements

Development and implementation of SWMS, risk assessments, and protocols for high-risk activities such as working at heights and asbestos removal.
Subcontractor Coordination
Engaging and managing licensed trades and specialists, including asbestos removalists, concreters, roofers, and civil contractors.
Live Environment Management
Delivering works in operational schools, hospitals, offices, and public spaces with minimal disruption to occupants and services.
Environmental & Site Controls
Dust suppression, noise mitigation, waste management, and secure site access to protect people and property.
Final Clearance & Occupancy Certification
Coordination with Licensed Asbestos Assessors and Occupational Hygienists to obtain clearance certificates and occupancy permits before re-entry.
Defect Rectification & Handover
Final inspections, punch list resolution, and delivery of completion documentation including warranties and maintenance guidance.
