AGIG- Karratha
Main Accomodation Extension & Renovation Works
In February 2024, AWB was awarded the contract to deliver extension and renovation works for AGIG’s facility in Karratha. The project involved structural upgrades, internal refurbishments, and services installations to enhance the operational capacity and safety of the site. The works were executed in a remote regional setting, requiring precise coordination and adherence to stringent safety and compliance standards. AWB successfully delivered a robust and functional facility extension that met AGIG’s operational and safety requirements. The project was completed on schedule and to specification, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and remote site logistics.
Scope of Works:
AWB’s scope included a combination of civil, structural, internal, and external works, comprising:
- Concrete Works: Site preparation, termite treatment, and installation of a reinforced concrete pad (6m x 4m x 150mm thick)
- Structural Modifications: Demolition of existing walls and installation of new wall framing and cladding
- Access & Egress: Supply and installation of two dedicated exit doors per wing, including pressed steel frames, solid core Duracoat doors, hardware, entry mats, trims, and painting
- Protection Measures: Installation of plastic and floor protection throughout the work zones
- Cladding & Openings: Removal of existing cladding and sliding doors; installation of prefabricated walls and ceilings
Internal Works:
- Installation of windows to all rooms
- Timber shower battens and sliding shower screens
- Mirrors, cover strips, cavity sliders, solid doors and furniture
- Split door frames, fire extinguishers (x4), floor screed, coved vinyl, mastic to door frames and thresholds
External Works:
- Installation of 8 ceiling vents for ensuites
- Roof insulation and sarking
- Trimdek wall cladding and flashings
- Installation of 12 cyclone-rated 290DS skylights with dimmers, drypans, and fire screens
- Plumbing Installations:
- Supply and installation of 12 shower cubicles with flick mixer taps and all-direction shower roses
- Installation of shower screens, vanity units, and S-trap toilets

Delivering works in operational schools, hospitals, offices, and public spaces with minimal disruption to occupants and services.
Environmental & Site Controls
Dust suppression, noise mitigation, waste management, and secure site access to protect people and property.
Final Clearance & Occupancy Certification
Coordination with Licensed Asbestos Assessors and Occupational Hygienists to obtain clearance certificates and occupancy permits before re-entry.
Defect Rectification & Handover
Final inspections, punch list resolution, and delivery of completion documentation including warranties and maintenance guidance.
